Growing up in Richland
Gary moved with his family
from Twin Falls, Idaho (born there in 1948) to the Tri-Cities
during the summer of 1951.
They moved from the "Magic Valley" to the "Evergreen State."
Both have irrigated deserts - the biggest difference being their altitudes.
After living in Pasco for a few months, the family moved to Richland,
living in the Gribble Street Apartments (no longer there), an "A" house at 1310 Haupt
& an "F" house at 218 Atkins.
Gary's parents (Bob & Aleene) worked at several jobs in Twin Falls after Bob served in the Army Air Corps (AACS) in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater during WWII.  After moving to the Tri-Cities, Gary's dad worked as a cost analyst for the Hanford Site from 1951 until he retired in 1987.  In addition to being a homemaker, Gary's mom worked for a credit union before working at the Hanford Central Stores until her retirement in 1987.  Gary's mom passed February 2008, dad passed January 2015, brother passed May 2021.

Carol moved with her parents (Glenn & Helen Lynam)
from Moscow, Idaho (born there in 1950) to Spokane.
The family lived on W Spofford Ave & E Carlisle Ave in Spokane before moving to 525 Legg Street in Medical Lake.  After serving in the Navy during WWII and attending the University of Idaho, Carol's dad, Glenn, worked for the Continental Oil Company before working as a civil service internal auditor for the Air Force until he retired.  He worked primarily at Fairchild AFB, Spokane (1960s - 1974 and early 1980s until he retired).
From 1974 to the early 1980s, he worked at Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque.
Carol's dad passed December 1996, mom passed June 2016, sister passed August 2015.

Gary & Carol met in 1968 while students at Eastern Washington State College, Cheney,
(when the mascot was the "Savages" - now the Eastern Washington University "Eagles").
After marrying at Fourth Memorial Church in Spokane, June 12, 1971, they first lived on Gribble Street across from Gary's first Richland residence.  Both apartments have since been replaced by parking lots for Kadlec medical staff.  After living for 4 years in a 10 X 50 trailer on East Highland Extension north of Benton City (1971 - 1975), Gary & Carol moved into their first house (208 A Street in Benton City, 1975 - 1978 - now 10th St.).  While there, their first daughter, Kristin, was born in 1976.  Gary, Carol & Kristin moved to Richland, living briefly with his parents before renting a "B" house at 205 Casey (1978 - 1980).  Two more daughters, Erin (1981) and Lisa (1984) were born after Gary & Carol moved into their present home at 2005 Turner Street (a ranch style "Y" house).Click on the buttons to the left to see what our houses looked like and for more information about each.
